Bringing a Baseball Stadium to Life with 3D Rendering

In Michigan, baseball isn’t just a sport, it’s a tradition that brings campuses, families, and communities together. For Lawrence Technological University, the dream was to give their NCAA Division III team a field worthy of that tradition. But there was a challenge: no drawings, no master plan, not even a design to point to.

That’s when James, representing the university’s vision, came to us. Imagination alone wouldn’t win over donors or alumni, what they needed were images bold enough to inspire and real enough to fundraise.

"We had the concept, we had the vision, but we didn’t have a way to show it. We needed images that could bring the field to life—real enough to inspire, bold enough to fundraise." — James, Lawrence Tech Project Team

Shaping a Vision from Scratch

The request was clear: create three exterior perspectives that could showcase the field from every important angle. A bird’s-eye from center field, a street-level view toward right field, and another toward left. These images would form the foundation of Lawrence Tech’s fundraising story.

  • No blueprints, only concepts: Instead of floor plans, we worked from site photos, aerial maps, and reference images saved in the project folder.
  • Details that mattered: Dugouts, press box, bleachers, picnic areas, clubhouse, scoreboard, and even the gold-glass skyscraper in the skyline were carefully studied.
  • Blending context and creativity: Real photos from the LTU campus were integrated into backgrounds, grounding the renderings in place.
  • Building emotion, not just scale: Beyond dimensions, the goal was to convey atmosphere—the feeling of standing on the field and watching the vision come alive.

Detailing the Design: Bringing Atmosphere and Identity to Life

Once the framework was set, it came down to character. The renderings needed to show not just what would be built, but who it was for—players, students, alumni, and the wider LTU community. Each element was intentional:

Dugouts, Press Box & Clubhouse on Third Base Line — A structural focal point that added both function and identity along with core features anchoring the field in collegiate tradition.

A Tall Blue Wall On Left Field & Brick Detail Wall On Right Field— A striking feature inspired directly from the coach’s idea photos with a blue wall and a brick wall with devil logo.

Sloped Grass in Center Field & Gold-Glass Skyscraper — Subtle grading that added dimension and a unique play surface and Skyscraper elements that tied the stadium to Southfield’s campus and cityscape.

The Three Views That Tell the Story

To capture both the scale and spirit of the project, we created three distinct exterior perspectives. Each view was designed to highlight a different angle of the field and the atmosphere Lawrence Tech wanted to share with its community.

View A – Bird’s Eye from Center Field

A sweeping perspective looking toward home plate. This view showcases the dugouts, press box, bleachers, and clubhouse, while also revealing open picnic spaces that welcome students and families.

View B – Street View Toward Right Field

Standing from the home plate area, this angle emphasizes the scoreboard, with the dorm buildings and the gold-glass skyscraper rising in the background, tying the new field to its campus and city surroundings.

View C – Street View Toward Left Field

Another ground-level view, this time highlighting the subtle slope of grass in center field and the striking tall blue wall in left field, a feature inspired by the coach’s design vision. Each perspective doesn’t just show a ballpark, it tells a story of community, pride, and possibility.

 Refining the Vision Together

The first round of renderings brought the field to life but as with any creative process, a few details needed to be fine-tuned. Working side by side with Lawrence Tech, we made adjustments that gave each view more accuracy and authenticity:

  1. View A — The right-field foul post was realigned, small outbuildings were removed, and the open area was transformed into fenced-in batting cages and bullpens.
  2. View B — The scoreboard was customized: generic names removed, replaced with LTU Stadium at the top and Blue Devil Park across the center.
  3. View C — The third-base foul post was corrected, the oversized wall reduced, extra signage deleted, and a single bold LTU logo placed front and center.

These refinements ensured the final renderings didn’t just look right—they felt true to the spirit of Lawrence Tech.

More Than Renderings, It’s Vision Made Visible

For Lawrence Tech, these images became more than fundraising tools, they became a way to unite alumni, students, and the community around a shared dream. The renderings didn’t just show a field; they captured the energy, the pride, and the possibility of what’s to come.

At Houston 3D Renderings, that’s our role: to transform ideas—whether a luxury home or a university ballpark into visuals that inspire belief. Because when people can see the vision, they’re ready to invest in it.
